Captain's
log...

March 31, 2007: It's been
a great school year! The 2006-2007 school year has been one of the best. What
an awesome bunch of students I have this year! Student Government students are
outstanding! I'm sure going to miss this group for they are all great young people,
...even Josh :-). I haven't spent much time working on the Stormbound screenplay
for this year has been pretty busy. I invested much of my free time, including
this summer, to building my classroom web site http://www.mrhistoryman.com
. A big shout out to all my SGA & American History/American History Honors
students. I started another novel recently which is really flowing and that I'm
excited about. I should hopefully be done by the end of this summer and will send
it out to traditional publishers and see if I get any bites. After my work on
Stormbound, this novel is much easier to write and the chapters/characters have
been coming out quickly. The novel is about a fictional high school in a small
fictional, rural Florida County. It tells the story of a third year teacher and
his life teaching at Orange Groves High School located in south Langton in Harrison
County, FL (named after president William Henry Harrison). The entire population
of Orange Groves High will be turned upside down in this "dry" FL County.
A series of events heat up the school year dramatically with the upcoming election
of a Superintendent, a teacher/student scandal, an untimely death, a group of
cheerleaders who practically run the school, and a bombshell that will bring the
national media to town. It will turn their rural world, one where the natives
only tolerate outsiders, upside down. The novel is tentatively entitled "Orange
Groves."

May 28, 2006: Well the
2005-2006 school year is finally over! I had some great students and classes this
year, fortunately I'll see most of them as seniors next year. Over all, it has
been a good year thus far, except for the occasional, unavoidable crappy individuals
you meet along the way. You know what they say though: "time wounds all heals."
I have a slight break before teaching American history in summer school this June.
I'm presently working on two projects: my screenplay for Stormbound.
Wednesday
March 29, 2006: I've taught
myself the ropes and have started working on a screenplay for Stormbound. With
any luck it will be done this summer and we'll see what happens from there. From
my last royality check I see that there are quite a few more owners of my novel
now. My apologies for the minor errors in the first edition. That's what second
editions are for! A special thanks to the numerous emails I've received. I'm happy
that you enjoyed my book. It was a labor of love. I must be lucky thus far, everyone
I've heard from has been extremely kind. As you can see, I've been reworking my
site. I want to make it an all purpose webpage that will be an asset in all aspects
for my life. I hope you are enjoying the changes. There are more to come! Special
greetings to any of my special current and former students who make my job always
a thrill.
Sunday
Febraury 19, 2006: I've been busy since I taught
summer school and went to Canada. Happy new year everyone. A special thanks to
everyone who has bought or read a copy of stormbound. As we speak I've stopped
my other writing projects and am presently concentrating on producing a screen
play of the book. Hopefully, I'll be able to shop that around before May. A special
hello to my Canadian relatives and my uncle David. Congratulations to my friend
Michelle Proctor who earned her PHD.
Thursday
May 19, 2005:
Congratulations to my former 8th graders from
Lakeview. It was great seeing you all at the West Orange Graduation. Good luck
to you all!
Thursday
May 5, 2005: It's
been a strange and hectic two months. Stormbound has sold well over a hundred
copies on Amazon.com and a few local bookstores will soon carry it. My marketing
efforts continue and will hit full speed this summer (when I have some time).
Also, it was good seeing so many of my former students at Bethany's funeral though
I wish we could have met under different circumstances. Everyone take care of
themselves and be safe, I do not wish to repeat my role as a pallbearer. Warm
regards and best wishes to all my former students.
Monday

30, 2005: Hello all! Stormbound should be available
sometime in February. At this point, I'm just waiting for the book cover to be
completed. From the rough drafts I've seen, I'm sure you'll end up agreeing that
it was well worth the wait. As soon as the cover is completed the book will go
into production! Please check back through the month of February for the latest
news on the book's release date. This month I'll be checking with local bookstores
concerning future book signing. If you would like to receive any news concerning
